First Loss Sets A Trend

FARGO – After a 3-0 sweep against the Sioux City Explorers, Kansas City Monarch fall to 3-2 on the season after losing 2 games in Fargo, North Dakota to the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks.

A 5-0 shutout in game one of the series, RedHawks starting pitcher, Brenden Heiss threw for seven straight shutout innings on 96 pitches. Frankie Tostado becoming quite “the guy” for the Monarchs after a huge opening series and a 3 for 3 on Monday.

Game 2 finishes in a 5-4 loss with outfielder Blake Rutherford hitting on 3 out of 4 at bats and two RBIs. Starting pitcher Grant Gavin sent his last 13 batters back to the dugout in 4 innings. KC rallied late to snag 1 run before the conclusion of the game after the 13 straight retired.

The final game in the Fargo-Moorhead-Kansas City series got rained out.

Monarchs head home to Legends Field starting on Thursday for the home opener against the Winnipeg Goldeyes. Game 1 starts at 6:05p in Kansas City, Kansas.
