Felipe Hernàndez on Administrative Leave After Gambling Report

KANSAS CITY – Sporting Kansas City Midfielder Felipe Hernàndez has been put on administrative leave from the club and an investigation is now underway.

Hernàndez has had issues with gambling in the past. In fact, he was suspended in 2021 for violating such policies when he bet on two MLS matches. He was reinstated in 2022, but broke the rules of that reinstatement as well. Hernàndez has admitted to gambling problems in his personal life, commenting that he has received treatment for the addiction.

It is safe to say that Hernàndez’s future is in question because of the recurring issues, but the question is how will it affect the team as a whole as they attempt to begin a positive streak of wins?

Major League Soccer released information above Friday, the 14th and has began their investigation.
