Has Peter Vermes’ Time Expired In KC?

Peter Vermes is 254-132-208 in all competitions as a manager. After losing 20 matches in the 2024 season, Vermes’ time is quickly dwindling as Manager and Chief Soccer Officer.

Fans of the club saying Peter needed to be out years ago.

Peter Vermes is one of, if not the biggest change needed before the next season gets into full swing.

With 16 total players out of contract at the end of the season, the team will look significantly different. Johnny Russell added his take on the team next season. “There will be a lot of new faces next year, I said to you the other day hopefully I’m one of them.” Johnny is included in the 16 players out of contract.

Peter saying “Mentality. Mentality. The mentality has to change within the group.” The only thing is, that’s what they’ve been saying all year, and nothing has changed.

20 total matches have been lost this year. 8 draws. 12 wins. 4 of those wins came in the U.S. Open Cup.

Sporting was 6-7-4 at home this year. Last year, 9-2-6.

Back in 2018, Sporting finished at 19-9-9, the best finish of his coaching career. Vermes won MLS Executive of the Year in 2018, then that’s when the club started to slide.

87-45-94 record since the start of 2019. Is it time for Sporting Kansas City to move on from Peter Vermes?
