A very disappointing season for Sporting Kansas City, being eliminated from MLS Cup Playoff contention just days before being defeated by LAFC in the US Open Cup final.
A game that should’ve ended in a 2-1 win for LAFC. After replays were played, showing Mateusz Bogusz a foot offsides. The offsides was neglected to be seen by VAR referee Jose Carlos Rivero to call Armando Villarreal to the monitor to check the goal. “I’m gonna say it this way. I know it’s offside. There is nothing I can do about it… as a club, we’ve suffered way too many types of these situations.” Said Peter Vermes after the match “With VAR and everything else, you shouldn’t miss that kind of stuff.”
“We had good responses in the game. In the end we fell short.” Vermes said. A similar phrase said after losses by the SKC manager.
Falling short.
This has seemed to be the theme of the season from the Kansas City club, losing 16 total games in MLS play with an additional 2 in Leagues Cup and US Open Cup.
