SKC’s Stephen Afrifa Joins Canadas’ Senior Team

KANSAS CITY – Sporting Kansas City announced Tuesday that star forward Stephen Afrifa was named to the Canadian national team. 

Afrifa, 23, was drafted by Kansas City in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft eighth overall. Stephen Afrifa appeared in 18 matches his rookie season, including one start. So far in 2024, Stephen has started in five matches and appeared in 22 matches with 5 goals in all competitions. 

Stephen Afrifa will make his first national team appearance in a match against the USA at his home stadium, Children’s Mercy Park on September 7th. “Best way to start,” Afrifa said. “It means a lot, it’s something I’ve been dreaming of since I was a kid”
