Sporting Heads To The Flats

KANSAS CITY – Sporting Kansas City (2-5-3; 11pts) set to head to Real Salt Lake (5-3-2; 18pts) on Saturday to play in a regular season match.

Sporting fell in the MLS Power Rankings this week after a 2-1 loss to Minnesota United last Saturday. From 16th to 24th, Sporting Kansas City and Peter Vermes have a lot to improve on heading into match day 11. Two early goals for the United helped to propel them for the rest of the game, only allowing one goal from star forward Alan Pulido in the 37′.

Jake Davis, SKC Academy product out of Rochester, MI, signed a 3-year contract extention with a forth year option. “I feel great. Obviously, it’s a great achievement for myself” Jake said Thursday during his media availability. Manager Peter Vermes commented on Davis’ performance in the last year after moving to right-back, “He’s made that position his”.

In the last meeting between these two teams, Sporting prevailed in a 3-2 win at America First Field after an early goal from Erik Thommy in the 4′. An early red card from referee Ted Unkel made Real Salt Lake go down to a 10-man team for 87′ of the game.
