KANSAS CITY – With Sporting KC losing 10 of their last 12 and yet to be able to give fans much hope on the rest of the season. This weekend holds a task that Sporting could use to salvage the hope of fans. Seattle and Sporting have been enemies for many years. This year marks the 15 year anniversary of this so called “rivalry” by most fans.
Sporting and Seattle are pretty even when looking back on previous matchups. Sporting has won 3 of the last 5 against Seattle. This year, Seattle has not looked great themselves. With only 4 wins thus far this stands to be a big game for them as well. This could be a setup for a very entertaining game.
Good news for SKC, their star player, Erik Thommy has been back to training after suffering a hamstring injury. Fans can hope he will see the field Saturday but, there is no guarantee. Remi Walter has still not been at training as of late dealing with a Knee Injury. We most likely will not see him out there, once again.
Memo Rodriguez is back after serving a suspension last week. This is massive for SKC as Rodriguez has been one of the standout players these last few weeks even while the team hasn’t been playing well. Peter Vermes has talked a lot about the mindset of the team and has mentioned that Rodriguez is a good example of what he wants to see out of the other players.
Seattle will most likely feel rather rested after their BYE week last week (match day 18). As far as injuries for Seattle, most of their players are healthy as of late even after taking some knocks earlier in the season.
This will be a great test for Sporting as the mindset of the rivalry will be on the line along with salvaging the part of the season. Kickoff is at 7:30 PM at Children’s Mercy Park. Streaming on Apple TV!
