Morgantown plays host to one of the key matchups in the BIG 12 opening weekend. The Kansas Jayhawks (1-2) after a flailing start with losses to both the Rebels of UNLV and the Illini, find themselves under .500 for the first time in a while under Lance Leipold’s watchful eye. West Virginia, on the other hand, also comes in with a two-loss blemish on their record, but against two completely different opponents. Penn State, who sat in the top 10 rankings at the time of the game proved to be their biggest loss at 34-12.
The Jayhawks come in with frustration on offense and a Jalon Daniels that has thrown six interceptions in only three games. Devin Neal on the other hand has had a handful of 100+ yard games. His talent is showing out with the lack of offensive diversity. OC Jeff Grimes has much to prove in this game as he attempts to cement himself as the primary playcaller.
West Virginia realizes digging themselves out of a 1-3 hole would be extremely challenging. They come in with similar struggles and prepare to bring their offense to the table against a Kansas defense that has played well, but not great.
The game is at noon and can be found on ESPN2. Brian Custer will be alongside Rod Gilmore for the call.
