Kansas City Current Extends Debinha, 3 KC Players Make NWSL ‘Best XI of August’ List

Kansas City Current announced Friday that they have extended forward Debinha through the 2026 season with a mutual option for 2027.

Debinha, the 32-year old Brazilian, has her name in the NWSL books. She ranks in the top ten all-time in regular season goals scored at 45, game winning goals (16), playoff goals (3). Debinha also holds the all-time records for most Challenge Cup goals (12) and NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup Goals (4). She scored 9 goal for the club in her first season.

Internationally, she is known as one of the best players in the world. She has nearly 150 appearances for Brazil, including the 2016 and 2021 Olympics, and the 2019 and 2023 FIFA World Cups. Her 61 international goals rank third all-time for her country.

3 Kansas City Current players make the NWSL’s ‘August Best XI of the Month’. Midfielders Debinha and Lo’eau LaBonta, as well as none other than forward Temwa Chawinga. Chawinga, leads the NWSL’s Golden Boot race and is only four goals away from tying the NWSL’s single-season scoring record, which is well obtainable with 8 matches left in the season. Captain LaBonta opened August with a goal against Tigres Femenil in the Summer Cup and added an assist in the Women’s Cup. Recently extended Debinha earned her spot with two goals and an assist in Summer Cup play and an additional game-winning goal in The Women’s Cup Championship.
