Rivalry Game In KC Preview

KANSAS CITY – Sporting Kansas City (2-4-2; 10pts) is set to host cross-state rival St. Louis City (2-5-1; 11pts) this Saturday at Children’s Mercy Park. Here’s what you need to know. 

This will be the sixth meeting between these two teams after playing each other five times last season. Sporting ended St. Louis’ season in the playoffs after a 2-1 win at home in round 1, match 2 in the MLS Cup Playoffs on November 5th. St. Louis was the 1 seed in the west, getting beaten by the 8 seed in just 2 matches. These two teams will play 3 times this season, this Saturday, July 20, and September 28.

Peter Vermes held his weekly press conference along with midfielder Erik Thommy on Thursday. Peter said everyone was available besides defender Logan Ndenbe who has been out with a torn ACL that he suffered in the second half of the last game against STL last season. Remi Walter is questionable after his ankle injury he conceded last Saturday vs. Inter Miami.
