Sporting Kansas City Aims to End Real Salt Lake’s Remarkable Streak This Wednesday

KANSAS CITY – Sporting Kansas City tried to pick up some momentum but was unable to complete the job over the weekend in California. Now, they have an even larger task in facing the top team in the Western Conference in Real Salt Lake. To make matters worse for SKC, RSL is holding a 14-game unbeaten streak while SKC has only won 1 game in the last 13.

This ‘David vs Goliath’ situation could be a rather unique battle for each side as getting a win might feel nearly impossible for SKC players and RSL players may not take this game seriously and believe it is a walk in the park. That leaves a lot of ‘gray area’ for this game to get squirely.

SKC is still without Forward Daniel Salloi, and most likely Remi Walter. RSL has quite a few injuries. However, this has yet to hurt them thus far. Star player, Christian Arango, has scored 16 of RSL’s 36 goals this season. These numbers show how dangerous Salt Lake has been all season leading the West with 34 points.

Sporting’s best chance to win this game is to come in with a good attitude and desire to win. Even then, they might need a bit of luck on their side to get all three points on Wednesday. Manager Peter Vermes continually talks about attitude and effort nearly every game this season. Even though the effort was better when SKC played Seattle a week and a half ago, the quality dropped back down to the average attitude SKC fans had been seeing all year.

Although it has been extremely hot recently in Kansas City, the temperature looks great for tomorrow’s match. It should be about 78 degrees with some clouds. However, there is a decent chance for some rain. That could add an exciting dynamic to an already interesting game.
